Comparisons of CFAR Burst Detection Schemes for TDMA Systems Employing Constant Modulus Modulation Format

چکیده
l.n this paper, the performances of constant falsealarm rate (CFAR) burst detection schemes are analyzed and compared for a communication system which employs constant modulus modulation format and a typical time division multiple access (TDMA) protocol, The burst detection probabilities are derived to incorporate the received signal quality measure which can be expressed as a function of cross-ambiguity function. Therefore the performance loss due to receiver’s frequency and/or timing mis-match can be easily computed by evaluating the auto-ambiguity function of the transmitted signal. Single window ratio detection (SWRD) scheme is compared with double window ratio detection (DWRD) scheme, which we newly propose, in terms of the robustness against the degradation of the received signal quality. It turns out that the SWRD scheme is very sensitive to the received signal quality degradation, i.e., huge performance loss is incurred even for a relatively small degradation of the received signal quality. On the other hand, the D WRD scheme offers much less sensitive performance loss to the degradation of the received signal quality and can be operated in adaptive mode.
